This book provides a significant examination of the prediction of outdoor sound. The introductory Chapter 1 starts with the main factors relating to outdoor noise propagation, a little history and a review of key work. It is good to see the importance of the pioneering work relating to soft ground propagation by Parkin and Scholes so openly acknowledged. The introduction also goes on to recognize the contribution of CONCAWE.
