The receivers for failed Tasmanian forestry company Gunns Limited, KordaMentha, have called for expressions of interests in the company's assets, which include 96,850 hectares of hardwood and softwood plantations, the Longreach site for the planned pulp mill, and the design work anc government permits for the project. The 1 million tpy bleached kraft pulpmill, set to cost AUD 2.3 billion, contributed to the downfall of Gunns after the company failed to find a joint venture partner for the project. The mill attracted fierce opposition from environmentalists and its permit is still likely to be subject to a court challenge by the Tasmanian Conservation Trust.
