摘要

Nuclear reactors are highly nonlinear dynamical systems particularly because of the internal feedback loops. Nonlinear dynamic systems are described by sets of coupled nonlinear partial differential equations (PDE) whose solution manifold can be surprisingly complex. In the framework of the nuclear reactor design the stability behavior plays a dominant role. Nuclear reactors, including their safety and protection systems, must be designed in such a way that any transient processes excited in all operating states do not result in the release of radioactive materials. Hence the stability properties of the reactor plus the coolant recirculation loop must be well-known in all details.
