Control of Contagious Bovine Pleuro-Pneumonia (CBPP)

This CRP is now in its last year. The validation of the CBPP c-ELISA is completed and publications on the findings are under way. This test is certainly superior to the CFT, in terms of quality control, but needs a careful definition of the purpose as it detects infected animals up to 2 years post infection. As it basically does not detect vaccinated animals, this test is perfect for prevalence studies. The LPPQ ELISA was rated as the easiest test, and gave very reliable results for active CBPP infections.
