ASA Board of Directors August Meeting Highlights

The American Statistical Association's Board of Directors met in Salt Lake City, Utah, prior to JSM 2007. Led by President Mary Ellen Bock, your elected leadership planned and acted to enhance the association's future in traditional areas of strength—membership, publications, education, and meetings— and expand the scope of the ASA's influence in new arenas, such as science policy. The board uses several bodies for study and feedback before making decisions, including the ASA's system of chapters, sections, committees, and task forces. In planning for 2007, President-Elect Tony Lachenbruch elaborated on his plans for a task force in communications and member professional development. He will name the members of these groups at the boards winter meeting.
