The latest: On August 8, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a special report on 'climate change, desertification, land degradation, sustainable land management, food security, and greenhouse gas fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems' and addresses greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes in land-based ecosystems, land use and sustainable land management in relation to climate change adaptation and mitigation, desertification, land degradation and food security. The report is structured in four parts: a discussion of people and land use in a warming world, adaptation and mitigation response options, how to enable those response options, and action that can be taken in the near term. The main conclusions of the report are as follows: 1.
