摘要

Stream flows and associated aquatic ecosystems have been altered in many streams and rivers as a result of human activity. Efforts to restore streams to more "normative" conditions are occurring thoughout the United States. The Nature Conservancy's Sustainable Waters program (2005) is actively supporting stream-flow restoration at more than 300 sites throughout the country. The need for restoration has been further focused in many areas in response to endangered species listings for fish and other aquatic species. This further increases the value of adequate in-stream flow during critical times for various aquatic species.
