NDWAC report describes infrastructure security road map

After hundreds of hours of work over a period of many months, a group of water and waste-water and public health professionals recently finalized a long-awaited report describing an integrated approach for the voluntary implementation and evaluation of crucial security policies and practices for water and wastewater treatment facilities and incentives to do so. The report follows the recent completion of vulnerability assessments and emergency response plans by large US utilities following 9/11. The 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City, N.Y., and Washington, D.C., harshly highlighted the significant public health and welfare risks that could stem from the intentional contamination or destruction of water and wastewater systems.
