Mcguire Elected To National Academy Of Engineers

The Journal congratulates Michael J. McGuire (of Michael J. McGuire Inc., in Los Angeles, Calif.) on his election to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). This honor was given to McGuire in recognition of his scientific contributions that have improved the safety and aesthetics of drinking water. Election to the NAE is one of the highest professional distinctions that can be accorded to an engineer. Academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to "... engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature . . ." and to the "... pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing or implementing innovative approaches to engineering education."
