Many companies avoid conducting business with customers on social media because of legal ramifications. There are ways around this. Brand giants American Express, virgin Atlantic, and others will first reach you on social media, likely in response to your broadcast Tweet, then through a direct post (just to you) they will ask to take the conversation offline to gather your personal data and complete the transaction.
