Cleaning urban waters using collaboration and science

Few cities in the world are located in surroundings as beautiful as Tacoma, Wash. Situated on Puget Sound, Tacoma is part of the outflow basin of the massive glaciers of the Cascade Mountains. Because of its unique location, community leaders from Tacoma, the University of Washington at Tacoma, Washington State University, the Port of Tacoma, and local businesses developed a brilliant idea: Tacoma could act as a real-world laboratory for researching and testing clean water methods and products. It could be a place where sustainable solutions to restoring and protecting Puget Sound could be found and implemented.
