Operation of water and wastewater systems is a power-intensive process, frequently requiring large electric motors for pumping, mixing, and other elements of the treatment and distribution functions. In this era of rapidly increasing energy costs and especially with the Obama Administration's avowed intention to emphasize climate control and the likely resulting increase in power costs, minimizing power consumption assumes significant importance both in terms of energy conservation and monetary savings.
