Report on Demonstration Plants for Saline-Water Conversion

The Office of Saline Water (OSW) of the US Department of the Interior has made great strides in its continuing search for methods of converting saline water to fresh at a realistic and economical cost. Saline-water conversion is not a panacea for all water problems. Nor is it the time to predict that converted water will ever cause the deserts to bloom. Water conversion is, however, a possible incremental source of municipal and industrial water. The OSW program aims to expedite this source, which offers hope of early implementation.
