The company's solar electric system at the Canal Road Water Treatment Plant produces 585,000 kW-h a year - enough to supplement 20% of the peak usage power needed to run the plant. This annual reduction in energy use prevents 1,577 pounds of nitrogen oxide, 4,875 pounds of sulfur dioxide, and 699,856 pounds of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the air.
