Out of morbid curiosity, I checked the weather on my Android as soon as I got out of bed Thursday morning. -42 F on the day my husband Thane and I were to ride our snowmobiles nearly 200 miles from Tok, Alaska to Dawson City, Yukon. I was riding Thane's 2009 800cc Ski-Doo Summit and he was riding our '04 Summit 600. The 600 started quite readily at -40 F, but the 800 required being pulled to the tailpipe on my truck so the exhaust could run into the engine compartment to warm it.
