For more than 25 years, I have thought that the "grey box," or neutral container, would become commonplace. After all, a box is a box is a box. O.K., so I'm not as good as Nostradamus. The reconfiguration among container vessel operators due to ineptitude, lack of funds, mergers, acquisitions and changes in sourcing has created The Rainbow Carrier. As we passed vessels, ports and yards (during a recent trip), I was intrigued by the assortment of box colors.
