OUSTON-Baker Hughes has released X-Treme Clean™ XP, a well bore cleanup and displacement system designed to improve efficiency and reduce operational risks in high-cost environments, including deepwater applications; horizontal, extended reach, and deviated wells; deep wells; and wells with high dogleg severity.rnThe latest generation cyclone-based system removes debris more efficiently, partly because it has the industry's highest allowable mandrel rotation speed, Baker Hughes says. The mandrel is rated to 150 rpm versus 60-100 rpm for typical cleaning systems, the company reports, adding studies say cleaning efficiency increases significantly at 90-120 rpm. Only the mandrel rotates; other system components, such as the scraper blades, the brush, and the stabilizers, do not rotate, which Baker Hughes says is crucial to minimizing damage to the casing, liner, or riser.
