Oilfield Helping Hands' Donations Top $1 Million

Since its formation in 2003, when organizers sponsored a sporting clay tournament to raise money for a terminally ill coworker, Oilfield Helping Hands says it has gathered momentum. The organization reports it now has distributed $1 million to help oil field workers and their families recover from tragedies and disasters. Those funds have assisted 108 families, OHH says. The organization points out that it partners with nine corporate sponsors and 400 volunteers to organize and coordinate five fund-raising events a year. "We salute our dedicated volunteers and generous supporters," says OHH President Richard Orr. "In 2010, we experienced a disaster that sent shock-waves throughout our industry (and reminded us) we should always rally together and assist those who are tragically touched by unexpected crises.
