To drill and complete a well bore under these conditions-while keeping costs and safety risks as low as possible-operators are constandy searching out the latest drilling technologies and techniques that mitigate drilling hazards. Drilling with casing is garnering attention from drillers looking for novel ways to simultaneously improve drilling efficiency and mitigate hazards. This technique involves using production casing in place of drill pipe to drill the well bore, enabling the operator to case the well while drilling. This approach removes the need to trip drill pipe and bottom-hole assemblies, a necessary task in conventional drilling scenarios.
