Kansas Conventional Wells Still Strong

The Mississippian Lime's output has not yet proven as lofty as many in Kansas had imagined, but Kansas Independent Oil & Gas Association Chairman Timothy Scheck points out the state's conventional operators continue to climb to their own impressive heights. "The big hope of horizontal drilling in the Mississippian Lime went south on us," assesses Scheck, operations manager for Scheck Oil Operations in Russell. "It didn't turn out to be nearly as big a play as many of us hoped it would be. But there is still a lot of drilling in conventional oil. KIOGA's members are drilling every day; they just aren't drilling the big horizontal wells."
