Background: This project used the process of research utilization to apply research knowl- edge to clinical practice for dressing peripheral intravenous (IV) catheters. Conclusion: This project used a research utilization framework to transfer research knowl- Edge into clinical practice. To assure dissemination and implementation of the new prac- Tice, the use of ABs for dressing peripheral Iv was incorporated into hospital policy and Procedure. In addition, the discontinuation of application of an antimicrobial ointment to Peripheral IV site was reinforced.
