Automotive suppliers have been busy acquiring new skills in the wake of the closure of MG Rover. The backing of the Accelerate agency has been invaluable to them. The failure of MG Rover last April threatened to destroy the West Midlands automotive industry. The effects have been dramatic, with some suppliers closing their doors immediately and others having suddenly to find new customers. However, there was an equally rapid response from local and national government in establishing the MG Rover Task Force to try to mitigate the impact of the carmaker's demise.
