摘要

There are more than 5,000 ABB robots slogging their guts out in factories across the country. Each of these automated workhorses is crammed full of moving parts and is bristling with sophisticated electronics. It is no surprise that, every once in a while, they tend to break down. In the past, when a robot stopped working, the machine operator would call the ABB customer support desk and try to explain what had gone wrong. Success was dependent on the clarity of this account and the ability of the ABB expert to interpret it. It was often a time-consuming recipe for frustration which eventually led to site call-out.
