The education of a provincial pharmacist

We are bombarded daily with reminders of global instability and the many threats to civilization, including pandemic diseases, the risk of environmental cataclysm, injustices precipitated by human greed, mass murder stemming from hatred and religious fervor, the untold civilian casualties of wars… the list goes on.rnThere is little that we as individual pharmacists can do about these matters directly; but indirectly, we can do much. We can include an international dimension in our professional lives and in the process foster tolerance, understanding, and harmony in the world. We can encourage our professional societies to not ignore the suffering of people in the poorest regions of the world. We can be encouraged by the knowledge that individual voices and actions, when added to those of many others, have been known to bring down walls, to vanquish tyranny, to right injustice, and to liberate the human spirit.rnThe education of a provincial pharmacist has led to these conclusions.
