Martindale will serve as a useful reference for the pharmacist and other health care professionals with a scope of practice that extends beyond the United States. The first edition was published by William Martindale in 1883; the goal of the original edition was to provide concise unbiased drug information. The 36th edition provides unbiased evaluated information on drugs used throughout the world. Martindale con-rntains information on licensed preparations from 40 countries and regions. I first used this reference while work-ing as a pharmacist in Africa.
