Millsnand Carter (1) regarding our report of the association be-ntween neural tube defects and folate following mandatorynfortification in the US population (2). We welcome the au-nthors’ comments on potential recall or ascertainment biasesnand encourage the interpretation of our findings with thesenin mind. As stated by Mills and Carter, we believe that thesenfindings from the National Birth Defects Prevention Studynprovide evidence of the effectiveness of folic acidnfortification.
