Forests and Climate Change

While Kyoto acknowledged the importance of forests as carbon sinks, it did not adopt specific provisions to stimulate replanting forests, or preventing their conversion to other uses. [...] demonstration projects launched by government and non-government programs have tested procedures for measuring and verifying the amount of carbon stored by forests under a variety of management activities.
