Adrycleaner may have superior spotting skills, excellent dryclean-ing procedures and great finishing techniques, but potential customers might never find out if you don't entice them to enter the store. You must welcome new customers and keep current ones coming back with an appealing appearance―outside and inside your business. This fact was brought home to me on a recent shopping trip to buy a mattress. It had been years since my wife and I had purchased a new one; curious, we stopped at a local store we had never visited before. We immediately noticed that its neon sign partially lit; a hap-hazard display of signs on the door was yellowed and torn. The entrance had large double doors, but only one was usable, since boxes and furniture were piled against the other. We entered single-file into a dimly-lit vestibule. Once inside, the room was crammed tight with beds, and there was no apparent pattern.
