Zoots divests stores in Cincinnati, Connecticut

Newton, Mass.-based Zoots Corp. has sold Widmer's Cleaners, the large Cincinnati-based chain it bought out in 1999, to its management team. The company also sold or closed nine Connecticut stores last month, and appears to be consolidating nationwide. Widmer's changed ownership in early March, says new managing member Steve Carico, after about six months of negotiations. Zoots purchased Widmer's shortly after startup to learn the business in hopes of establishing a nationwide drycleaning brand.
