The dow jones industrial Average (DJIA) edged past 10,000 for the first time in a year on Oct. 14, signaling that investors believe that the economy is recovering from recession. The Dow took just seven months to reach 10,000 after hitting a 12-year nadir of 6,547 on March 9, 2009.rnWhile analysts rarely focus on the Dow, they admit that the round number may have a positive psychological impact. Historically, when the Dow trades at or near 10,000, it continues to trade in that range for several quarters.
