Workers who are exposed to extreme heat or work in hot environments are at risk to heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps and heat rash. Extreme heat also increases the risk of injuries that could be caused by fogged glasses, sweaty palms, dizziness or accidental contact with hot surfaces or steam. Workers at greatest risk to heat exhaustion or heat stroke are 65 years of age or older, overweight, have heart disease or high blood pressure or take medications.
