Semiconductor nanocrystals, also known as colloidal quantumndots (QDs) offer a unique combination of size-tunable optical andnelectronic properties, and amenability toward solution-basednprocessing.1 As a result, this versatile class of materials is being usednin a rapidly expanding range of technological applications, mostnnotably in light-emitting diodes,2, 3 photodetectors4 and solarnphotovoltaics (PVs).5, 6 Indeed, advancements in solar cells based onnQDs has been particularly rapid: since the first certification of such andevice four years ago,7 efficiencies have nearly tripled.5 Whether innthin-film or sensitized titania architectures,8 PVs use QDs asnbroadband, photostable absorbers where charge-carriers arengenerated and separated. More recently, attention has turned tonexploration of alternative roles for QDs in solar energy capture thatntake advantage of their high emission quantum yields (QYs), such asnin luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs).
