摘要

The recent increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide is concerningrndue to its impact on global climate. However, state of the artrnalternative energy has limited availability, while storage andrntransport of electrical energy is challenging. One solution to thesernchallenges is to store electrical energy in liquid fuels for on-demandrnconversion to energy. Formate is a promising liquid for energyrnstorage because its conversion from carbon dioxide only requiresrnreduction without the formation of a carbon-carbon bond; this isrnpossible through electrochemical reduction on metals such as Sn.
