摘要

While it might seem to be a cliche, 2008 represented the best of times to some and the worst of times to others-and often both to everyone. Investors counted their riches as the stock market hit record heights. But, while some also made money again betting against the market on the way down, most of us gritted our teeth when we dared to open financial statements later in the year. Owners of hard assets, such as oil, wheat and corn, enjoyed record-breaking revenues, as the growth of the global economy seemed unstoppable. Then, they saw all their gains evaporate-and then some-when the commodity bubble burst.
