Extension Of Closed-loop Recycling To Aircraft Scrap Recovered In A Controlled Manner

Alcan Global ATI, known for its rolled and extruded products for the aviation industry, has been participating since 2007 in the PAMELA-Life' (Process for Advanced Management of End of Life of Aircraft) Airbus project, whose aim is to develop established dismantling and recycling techniques for retired aircraft, which comply with the current environmental, health and safety requirements. This will expand the plant's previously already extensive recycling of scrap returned from its own production activities and from customer plants, to include materials from the controlled recycling of aircraft withdrawn from service. For the first time, this creates a closed recycling loop covering the entire life-cycle of an aircraft, from its production to the end of its life.
