Production planning in the aluminium recycling industry made easy with an add-on to SAP ERP

The main tasks in the aluminium recycling process go beyond the production of aluminium alloys from the available scrap and its qualitative attributes. There are numerous customer orders that demand different alloy mixtures to be delivered on different dates with different qualities and quantities. The amount of detailed data regarding the calculations and planning of this process requires a large amount of technical support. This paper describes a problem in the production preparation and scheduling in the secondary metal production and presents its solution using the SAP ERP and OR Soft's Manufacturing Workbench Burden Optimisation.
