Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world's largest aluminium smelter outside China, has signed an MoU with Hangzhou Jinjiang Group (HJJ), a leading alumina producer with a nameplate capacity of 10m tpy in China. The MoU serves as a framework to form a strategic potential collaboration between both companies in terms of securing Alba's alumina requirements and hedging against alumina price volatility and supply constraints. For Hangzhou Jinjiang Group the agreement is part of the company's expansion plan to build and operate alumina refineries in strategic locations, to provide high quality products at competitive terms. The MoU will remain in effect for a period of three years and can be extended based upon mutual agreement amongst both parties.
