摘要

A new type of carbon anode which contains some lithium salt was developed for aluminium electrolysis in recent years. Some characteristic properties of the carbon anode were investigated. In comparison with ordinary carbon anodes, the lithium salt-containing ones show better wet-tability by the cryolite-alumina melts, higher critical current density and less anode effect, because the lithium salt can catalyze the carbon-oxygen reaction. This type of carbon anode has been used in 60000A Soederberg cells with good production results.
