In airline circles, pilots have an uncanny way of remembering and defining their careers by the airplanes they flew along the way. The case of the Boeing 727 is no exception―as exemplified when Delta Air Lines retired the 727-200. On April 6, Ship No 580 (N283WA) operated Delta's final revenue service by the 'three-holer', from Greensboro, North Carolina, to Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport as Flight DL607. Two days later this 727 flew west into retirement as a special ferry, or 'champagne' flight, crewed by Captain Bob Falkins, First Officer Paul Entrekin, and Flight Engineer Leo Coffield.
