Lufthansa recently launched a six-month trial, the longest yet. Although planned for April 2011, it began only in mid-July because more time than expected elapsed before approval of a new specification for hydroprocessed renewable jet fuel was received from the authorities. After clearing this hurdle, Lufthansa initiated the first long-term test of sustainable biofuels on its bread-and-butter route between Hamburg and Frankfurt.
