Following the ongoing recession created by the 2008-2009 credit crisis -which caused most, if not all, of the world's economies to slow -government agencies worldwide searched for the means to stabilise and regenerate economies by changing its fiscal policies. Governments in many cases took unprecedented measures to stimulate struggling economies through numerous economic measures. The widely-used phrase 'economic stimulus' has become an everyday term.
