Independent Egyptian carrier Midwest Airlines will double its fleetthis winter to boost traffic levels on leisure routes from Europe. The company was relaunched under new ownership in September 2009 having previously operated two Airbus A310s between 1998 and 2006. It has since been flying Next-Generation Boeing 737 models on charter services to Europe and the Middle East from the popular Red Sea resorts. It initially leased a B737-600 from flyglobespan between March 2009 and May 2010 but has subsequently replaced this with two B737-800s, SU-MWD (c 28591) from GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS).
