Major shake-up planned for Spanish Airports

Spanish airport operator Aena has begun a major push towards the privatisation of Madrid/Barajasand Barcelona/ El Prat airports by transferring ownership of all airport-related assets to the recently established holding company, Aena Aeropuertos. Bidding for Barajas and El Prat will open later in July with the €2 million contract set to be awarded by the end of the year. The President of Aena Aeropuertos, Juan Lema, said: "The actual start of activity of Aena Aeropuertos marks an historic milestone in airport management in Spain.
