BA to Cut up to 12,000 Jobs

BRITISH AIRWAYS (BA) has announced radical plans that could see up to 12,000 of its 42,000 staff made redundant. The proposed measures are a direct result of the collapse in demand for air travel amid the COVID-19 crisis. In a statement released on April 28, BA's parent company IAG said that "recovery to the level of passenger demand in 2019 is expected to take several years, necessitating group-wide restructuring measures", adding that the firm had reduced passenger capacity in April and May by 94% compared with last year.
