Many liveries have adorned the elegant Bristol Britannia, but few are as memora- ble as the striking red and black of British Eagle International Airlines. The independent British firm operated the type for eight years during which a mixture of contract, charter and scheduled services took them to virtually every corner of the earth. Eagle's Britannia fleet peaked at 17 aircraft as the Bristol Proteus-powered turboprop became a core component of the carrier's long-haul air transport capability.
