It is not all doom or gloom. Despite the global recession, and slowing traffic numbers, airlines are still ordering in large numbers. The industry has continued to see a number of sizeable orders, most recently a 54-Airbus aircraft order from Philippine Airlines and an order by Aeromexico for 100 Boeing jets.Airbus and Boeing alone have a backlog of 8,213 aircraft, with 34% of these scheduled to deliver to Asian carriers - still undoubtedly one of this year's hottest markets - although there are concerns about what a Chinese slowdown might mean for the aviation market.
