摘要

SAA Technical (SAT), South African Airways' maintenance, repair and overhaul subsidiary, is feeling the changes brought about by the carrier's massive fleet-renewal programme. Jo Murray asks Rinesh Ramkissoon, SAT's acting chief executive officer, what the new fleet will mean and how SAT is gearing up to look after Airbus aircraft. South African Airways' (SAA) new fleet will have two key effects from a maintenance point of view. The up side is clearly put by Rinesh Ramkissoon, acting chief executive officer of SAA Technical (SAT), the carrier's maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) subsidiary. "The replacement of the older generation 737-200 and 747-200, -300 and -SP aircraft [which are very labour-intensive, because of their age - ranging from 20 to 30 years] will reduce the amount of maintenance and overhaul work, currently being undertaken for SAA."
