When Klaus Heinemann took over the reins at debis AirFinance he found himself, on the one hand, in the unenviable position of performing in the spotlight in an industry that feels the pain of all the industries with which it interacts, but, on the other hand, he is in the enviable position of being able to lead change. Heinemann is not a man wanting in experience and is no shrinking violet when it comes to recognizing the pain in the market he has served for the past 25 years. He joined the debis AirFinance board of management as managing director sales and marketing in October 2002. Before that he was a member of the executive board of Deutsche VerkehrsBank, where he was in charge of aviation and corporate finance. Before that he held various positions in aviation financing for the Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan and Bank of America. As chief executive officer of debis AirFinance, Heinemann has secured the permission of his shareholders - DaimlerChrysler, Bayerische Landesbank, DZ Bank, Dresdner Bank and HypoVereinsbank - not only to continue with its operating leasing business but also to focus more heavily on managing the assets owned by securitization vehicles and institutional investors.
