Boeing's year-to-date aircraft orders surges ahead of Airbus

Boeing ended the first eight months of 2018 with a net order total of 564 commercial aircraft, more than double the 218 net total that Airbus recorded for the same period. Boeing's order book surged in August, more than tripling July's input with firm orders placed for 99 new aircraft, valued at approximately $13 billion at list prices. The US manufacturer's August report included orders placed by lessors Air Lease Corp. (30 737 MAX 8s and three 787-9s) and Aviation Capital Group (20 MAX 8s) originally announced at the Farnborough Air Show in July. Other major customers for the month included Boeing's wholly-owned lending and leasing subsidiary Boeing Capital Corporation, which ordered five 787-9s and a 777F; and an unidentified customer that capped the month with a booking for 40 737 MAX family aircraft, valued at approximately $4.6 billion.
