"The Girl With the B-29 Rating" (Soundings, June/July 2012) states that Dora Dougherty and Dorothea Moorman were the only two women to fly the B-29 Superfortress. There is another. On May 5,1944, Mildred D. "Micky" Axton was given control of a B-29 during a test flight. Axton was employed by Boeing as a flight test crew member. We have copies of her papers in our archives.
